RISK-FREE LIGNOCELLULOSE
Fibrafeed® lignocellulose has an insoluble crude fibre content of over 70% of dry matter. Fibrafeed® lignocellulose contains mainly cellulose and lignin that are insoluble and inert fibres of which only tiny quantities ferment in the large intestine of livestock. The material is produced as and when needed. Crude fibre sources from crops do not need to be harvested or stored.
FIBRAFEED® LIGNOCELLULOSE IN AD LIBITUM FEEDING
In ad libitum feeding of pregnant livestock, Fibrafeed® lignocellulose prolongs the feeling of satiety thanks to its high water-absorbing capacity. Crude fibre accelerates the intestinal passage, preventing constipation and improving the general reproductive capacity scarcely compromising the digestibility of proteins. Thanks to its ability to bind to small amounts of acid, Fibrafeed® is useful for young livestock feed because stomach acid protects animals from the pathogens of diarrhoea.
Recommended ration: 1-2% for breeding of farm animals and 2-3% in ad libitum feeding of pregnant livestock.
IMPROVED FAECAL CONSISTENCY
Products such as sugar beet shavings can cause the formation of greasy stools, which clog the slat floors, making cleaning difficult and, as a consequence, creating poor sanitary conditions. Fibrafeed® has a reliable ability to bind water and increases faecal viscosity in pregnant livestock. As a result, the stools are soft but properly formed; accelerated bowel transit also reduces the risk of constipation before delivery and consequently the risk of MMA.
LOWER RISK OF MMA
Fibrafeed® does not contain nutrients, nor elements such as Ca or P. For this reason, it can be added to the normal feed ration that has already been calculated without any problem. This is useful for feeding pregnant livestock, since a small content of Ca and P in the ration is considered to be related to a reduced MMA ratio.
FREE OF MYCOTOXINS
Fibrafeed is totally free of mycotoxins. The abortion rate caused by mycotoxins is closely linked to the use of uncontrolled sources of crude fibre. Fibrafeed lignocellulose, on the other hand, eliminates any risk of mycotoxins being present in the ration.
SWELLING CAPACITY
Conventional sources of crude fibre have a limited water-holding capacity: wheat semolina is able to absorb about 190% of water, grass cobs about 270% and sugar beet pulp about 340%. On the other hand, the water-holding capacity of lignocellulose exceeds 500%! This means that crude fibres swell considerably in the stomach of pregnant livestock, giving a long-lasting feeling of satiety: it avoids overfeeding with the ad libitum system, effectively eliminating the risk of adiposity and decreasing the caloric value of the ration. The result is a healthy and calm livestock.
APPLICATION
Fibrafeed® is a completely natural and efficient product. In systems of limited nutrition, the positive effects are best achieved when adding from 1 to 2.5% of fibrous-cellulose to the ration. It is important to ensure that animals drink enough water, especially during hot spells. When weaning offspring, fibrous-cellulose can increase the intestinal villous height and regulate inflammatory markers with an overall positive effect on the animal’s gut health
